Population

Capital City

Dubai is the most populous city in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It is located on the southeast coast of the Persian Gulf and is the capital of the Emirate of Dubai, one of the seven emirates that make up the country.

Languages

The official language of Dubai is Arabic, though English is even more widely spoken. With the exception of some local Emiratis, who make up a small percentage of the total population, almost everyone living in or traveling to Dubai speaks at least passable English.

Climate

Dubai has a hot arid climate. Dubai has 2 seasons – winter and summer. Summer in Dubai begins around the last week of April and ends around the first week of October. This period is characterized by extremely hot weather, hot winds and high humidity. Due to the city's close proximity to the sea, the temperatures in Dubai are slightly milder in summer in comparison to other Gulf cities such as Kuwait City and Riyadh.

GDP

Dubai's GDP grew 2.8% year-on-year in the first quarter of the year to reach AED111. 3 billion surpassing average global growth rates for Q1 2023. The surge maintains the robust momentum of growth achieved in 2022, when the emirate experienced a 4.4% expansion of the economy.
